Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds Michigan Contracts

Promote Michigan for Marketing Services

(MIO, Mich) The Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds Michigan has contracted with Dianna Stampfler of Promote Michigan to provide marketing and public relations services effective June 1, 2007. It will be Stampfler’s responsibility to help spread the word about ARVC’s 250-plus members throughout the coming months.

“I am excited to tell the public and the media about the great private campground resources we have available here in Michigan,” Stampfler said. “From primitive to upscale, we’ve got it all. From the rustic Upper Peninsula to the major metro areas, camping can be found and enjoyed just about anywhere in the Great Lakes State. Whether pitching a tent, parking an RV or reserving a rustic or modern cabin, Michigan campgrounds offer a great way to disconnect from busy lives and reconnect with families.”

Stampfler, who has 17 years of marketing experience with 10 years focused on the travel and tourism industry, represents a handful of other properties and destinations throughout Michigan. She sits on the board of the Kent County Lodging Association and is a member of the Allegan County Tourist Council, Ferris State University Hospitality Advisory Board and Kalamazoo Nature Center Marketing Committee. Stampfler holds a degree in print and broadcast communications from Western Michigan University.

“I worked with Dianna years ago when she was marketing and media director at the West Michigan Tourist Association,” said Wayne Purchase, Executive Director of ARVC - Michigan. “When our board decided to contract with an outside agency to handle our marketing, I contacted Dianna right away. We’re confident that her connections throughout the industry and her passion for marketing Michigan will benefit ARVC, our members and the overall camping industry in Michigan.”

Camping is the number one outdoor vacation activity in America, according to the Travel Industry Association of America. Nearly 10 percent of all pleasure travelers in Michigan choose camping as their summer adventure activity.

“Vacationers in Michigan often instinctively think of the state parks first when it comes to camping options,” said Tom Briggs, ARVC board member and owner of Grand Rogue Campground in Grand Rapids. “Dianna has already generated ideas for us to spread the word about the private campground options that exist throughout Michigan. She’s also been able to get us connected with key players in the industry such as Travel Michigan and AAA. I’m looking forward to working with Dianna throughout the year as we all promote camping here in Michigan.”

A main collateral piece that Stampfler will market is the ARVC’s 2007 Michigan Campground Directory. The guide is now available at various locations statewide, including all Welcome Centers. A PDF version is also available for viewing online at www.michcampgrounds.com. The directory not only lists campgrounds by region, but also includes helpful information on the type of sites available, various amenities such as restroom, laundry and dumping station facilities; recreational offerings such as pools and golf courses; and seasons of operation. Campgrounds that now offer wireless internet access onsite are also identified. The association’s website is also a strong marketing tool, where travelers can search for campgrounds by region, city or type of amenities.Dianna Stampfler
