Jim and Joy Cordray of White River Campground in Montague Michigan won the Seasonal Operators of the Year award at the 2008 Stars of the Industry Awards Dinner. The awards ceremony is part of the Driving Tourism Conference that is the annual statewide gathering for the tourism industry. Jim and Joy were received the honor at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel on April 15, 2008.
As owners of the Campground, Jim and Joy Cordray have been active in the tourism industry since 1974. Their seasonal campground offers a wide range of amenities and accommodates all campers from tents to the big rigs. In addition Jim and Joy own Jim and Joy Cordray, White River Campground, Montague, Michigan providing scenic tours down the White River for their guests.
Besides providing outstanding facilities for their campers and canoeists, Jim and Joy do an incredible job of staying informed of issues that affect tourism in Michigan and are often leading others in their grass roots efforts. Jim and Joy have proven to be persuasive influencing issues within and on behalf of the tourism industry over the past 34 years. The Cordray’s were founding board members of the Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds of Michigan. In the last year they have continued their legacy of involvement as Joy graciously serves on the ARVC Michigan Board of Directors, and Jim has been working hard to influence legislative issues that affect Michigan waterways.
Jim and Joy Cordray are a fine example of a tourism business that has helped lay the foundation for the Michigan camping industry as a national leader in providing high quality campground and outdoor recreation experiences to the tourism consumer. However they didn’t stop there; they have continued to be involved in helping to direct the future of the industry through mentoring of new campground operators, active involvement in the industry, and in their awareness of issues that may affect the tourism industry, often before they rise to the political forefront.
Great job Jim and Joy. You’ve made us all proud.
